A study on brain tumor reported that a new therapy, proton radiotherapy, could be an effective way to treat the tumor in children as it has fewer long-term side effects.

Not many people in the United States, or across the globe, have access to proton radiotherapy, but it is capable of providing help in the pediatric population, said Torunn Yock, an author of the new study and a doctor at Massachusetts General Hospital. The kind of therapy is increasingly known for its abilities to reduce the side effects of treatment, she added.

There are some experienced health centers around world which have success record of the proton therapy. These records show the therapy is safe and effective, Yock continued.

For many people, digging out prehistoric mammoth bones could be new and daunting task, but professor Loren Davis 70 Oregon State University students consider themselves lucky for holding 12,000-year-old animal bones.

The dream opportunity was offered to them when construction crews accidentally found some mammoth bones while working near the north end zone of Reser Stadium (Oregon state football field) in Corvallis. The bones of extinct animals were found about 10 feet underground in what experts believe was a pond a long time ago.

Soon after discovering the bones, the construction members stopped the work and called Loren Davis, an assistant anthropology professor at OSU. According to Davis, when he first saw the bones, he had no idea that the discovery would be a big deal.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has already revealed the aerospace company’s plan to take astronauts to Mars by 2025, but the spacecraft that would be used for the mission is still not unveiled. Now, Musk has announced that the Mars mission spacecraft will be revealed later this year.

While talking to people at an event in Hong Kong, the business magnate said that he planned to unveil plans and architecture of the Mars spacecraft in late September during the International Astronautical Conference in Mexico. Undoubtedly, Mars mission is going to be very exciting, and SpaceX’s first flight to the planet could be within a decade, Musk said.

Citizens don’t easily get an opportunity to personally see the awesomeness of NASA’s capabilities. This is one of the reasons why a new exhibit at Space Center Houston that is showcasing the Boeing 747 jetliner that carried the space shuttles to and from the United States holds so much significance.

On January 23, the Space Center, located next to the Johnson Space Center, home of NASA's mission control, organized a grand-opening ceremony for its latest exhibit, known as Independence Plaza.

In the exhibit, visitors can step inside the modified jetliner called NASA 905, and a replica of the shuttle. To witness the huge spacecraft duo personally is at once awe-inspiring. Touring inside both of them adds another thrill to the experience.

The new video released by the US space agency depicts the dwarf planet Ceres, as evident by the Dawn spacecraft. The video has demonstrated a number of topographical features of Ceres, including its great crater Occator and the mountain Ahuna Mons, and also its now well known ‘bright spots’.

In a blog post form NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, German mission scientist Ralf Jaumann said, “The simulated overflight shows the wide range of crater shapes that we have encountered on Ceres. The viewer can observe the sheer walls of the crater Occator, and also Dantu and Yalode, where the craters are a lot flatter”.

It was thought that the technique that tracks the distance a body travels from a graph of its velocity against time was developed around 1350 in England. However, an astroarchaeologist has described the same kind of computations on older tablets in a paper appeared in the journal Science on Thursday.
