Bangalore/New Delhi: All-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who on Monday became Indian Premier League's costliest ever buy by going for a whopping Rs 16 crore to Delhi Daredevils, said that he was happy to be playing again under former India coach Gary Kirsten.

"I was sleeping when the auction was going on. I came to know of this only when some guests came to my house and told me about the good news. The best part is, I am going to play under Kirsten. I had my best years under him and hopefully I can repeat that with Delhi," Yuvraj said after he was bought for the record sum at the IPL 8 player auction in Bangalore.

Kirsten, who was present at the auction along with top team officials, said that his franchise had come prepared to go all out bidding for Yuvraj.

Just wanted to know why my name was not recommended: Saina

Saina NehwalBangalore, Jan 5 : Badminton ace Saina Nehwal on Monday denied media reports that she was demanding a Padma Bhushan, saying her intent was to merely know why her name was missing from the nomination list for the prestigious award.

"I don't know why it has been shown [in the media] that I demanded the award. Who am I to demand an award? I just wanted to know why my name was not recommended for the Padma Bhushan," Nehwal told mediapersons here.

The Olympic bronze medallist also expressed distress over speculations that she was angry that wrestler Sushil Kumar's name was on the list of nominations.

Mars orbiter crossed comet hurdle: ISRO

Mars orbiterBangalore: After the Mars orbiter spacecraft's successful encounter with comet Siding Spring last week, a major hurdle was over and the satellite is now in a normal phase of the mission to proceed with other experiments, ISRO said Wednesday.

"One thing that was quite satisfying was the satellite survived this comet, there was absolutely no problem...; it happened between October 19 and 20th, it has been about ten days since then, things are going on very correctly as planned," ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC) Director S K Shivakumar told reporters here.

DA case: Jayalalithaa walks out of Bangalore Central Jail

Infosys Q2 net up 28.6% to Rs 3,096 crore; revenues up 2.9%

InfosysBangalore: Beating market expectations, IT major Infosys on Friday posted 28.6 percent jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 3,096 crore for the quarter ended September 30.

The Bangalore-based firm had reported a net profit of Rs 2,407 crore in the year-ago period, it said in a BSE filing.

Consolidated revenue was up 2.9 percent to Rs 13,342 crore in the said quarter from Rs 12,965 crore in the year-ago period.

In the April-June quarter this fiscal, Infosys reported a net profit of Rs 2,886 crore and a revenue of Rs 12,770 crore.

Narayana Murthy, Gopalakrishnan bid farewell to Infosys

Seven co-founders, led by Murthy, set up the Bangalore- based firm in 1981. Murthy had the longest run of about 21 years as CEO before passing the baton to Nandan Nilekani and then Gopalakrishnan and S D Shibulal.

ISRO postpones launch of Navigational Satellite IRNSS-1C

Bangalore, Oct 7 - The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has decided to postpone the launch of India's third navigational satellite IRNSS-1C by a week.

An ISRO post on Facebook and reported by All India Radio said the launch has been postponed due to an observation in the telemetry system.

The Indian rocket Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle was slated to carry the Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System-1C or IRNSS-1C in the early hours of October 10.

IRNSS 1C is the third of the seven satellites planned for the formation of the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System. All the seven satellites are planned to be in space by next year. (ANI)

RBI seen holding rates until Q2 2015, then ease

RBIBangalore - The Reserve Bank of India will probably wait until the second quarter of next year to loosen policy as it wants to cool inflation before trying to spur growth, a Reuters poll found ahead of a policy review meeting next week.

All but three of 46 economists surveyed over the past week said the bank would leave its key repo rate unchanged at 8.0 percent when it meets on Sept. 30.

The survey showed that the RBI is also unlikely to alter either the statutory liquidity ratio (SLR), setting banks` minimum bond holding requirements, or the cash reserve ratio (CRR) that sets the percentage of depositors` balances that banks must keep with the central bank.

"We are feeling out of this world. Everything was autonomous so we were just monitoring the space craft. The Prime Minister's speech was very inspiring," a scientist told ANI here.

On its 300-day voyage in deep space, Mars Orbiter Mission has to travel only 88 million km more in its heliocentric trajectory to reach Mars, Bangalore headquartered Indian Space Research Organisation said.

It now takes 20 minutes for radio signals to reach MOM and return, ISRO said in a post on its Mars Orbiter Mission Facebook page.

Infosys to focus on start ups, IP, Products & Platforms: Sikka

Vishal-SikkaBangalore: Vishal Sikka, the first non- founder and outsider to lead Infosys, on Friday said the country's second largest software services firm will focus on intellectual property, products and platforms in an effort to revive the lost glory of the once IT bellwether.

The former Board member of German software giant SAP, who took over as Infosys CEO today from S D Shibulal, will also work with start ups to drive scale and business for the Bangalore-headquartered firm.

In a letter to Infosys employees, Sikka said the task before the company now was to lay out the way forward.
