Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Oct. 5 : Criticising Congress party leader Sanjay Nirupam for demanding proof from the NDA government on the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army on terror camps across the Line of Control last month, the president of the Maharashtra unit of the Samajwadi Party, Abu Azmi, said Wednesday that such statements would leave the armed forces and the nation's citizens disheartened and demoralised.

"Such statements break the moral of the people as well as the security forces and the soldiers, who right now are in high spirits," Azmi told ANI.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], Oct.5 : The opposition Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party on Wednesday thanked the Supreme Court for giving a verdict in favour of Tamil Nadu in connection with the Cauvery water sharing case.

DMK spokesperson T. K. S. Elangovan said, "We are happy that the Supreme Court understands the issue and tried to do justice."

The Supreme Court on yesterday directed Karnataka to release 2,000 cusecs of water per day to Tamil Nadu from October 7 to October 18.

Karnataka on Tuesday had told the apex court that it will implement the order to release 6,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu from October 1 to October 6.

New Delhi [India], Oct 4 : The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday announced a rate of by 25 basis points to 6.25 percent, as a newly set up panel felt that inflation levels were low enough to reduce loan rates.

The decision of the monetary policy committee (MPC), headed by new RBI governor Urjit Patel, will likely cheer business leaders and households as cheaper loans will aid investment and spending.

The six-member Monetary Policy Committee, which voted 6-0 in favour of a cut, noted that an improvement in sowing along with supply management measures will improve the food inflation outlook.

"She begged for them to let her live and [said] she has babies at home. Then they wrapped her mouth in tape and put her in the bathtub," the 35-year-old's rep said, adding, "She thought they were for sure going to kill her."

According to the source, the reality star and mother of two "was gagged and bound at her hands and feet" during the robbery, then handcuffed and held at gunpoint.

A study conducted by researchers at LSU Health New Orleans suggests that age is an important factor in the association between cancer and sugar-sweetened beverages and recommends that intervention programs to reduce consumption of added sugar be focused on lower socio-economic status, young males, as well as cervical cancer survivors.

Sugar intake or sugar-sweetened beverage consumption has been demonstrated to have a positive association with obesity, diabetes and cardio-metabolic diseases, as well as some cancers. As more people are surviving cancer, the consumption of added sugar will be an increasingly important risk factor.
