Four finalists emerge in search for Singapore's Happiest Person
Singapore - The search for Singapore's Happiest Person has been narrowed down to four people including a training consultant, a hospital porter, a record searcher and an engineer, organizers said on Tuesday.
With residents of the city-state faring poorly in rankings indicating happiness amid the high-stress environment, the Global Leadership Academy kicked off the campaign in March as part of its well-being conference to be held this month.
The final four were selected from 207 people nominated for the title of "Singapore's Happiest Person." The identity will be announced on Thursday, with the winner receiving a two-night hotel stay in the Thai resort of Phuket.
On being one of the finalists, Zaibun Nissa Siraj, a training consultant at Ngee Ann Poltechnic, said, "Very good. I'm touched that my colleagues actually recommended me."
Stella Fernandez, a porter with the patient transport service at KK women's and Children's Hospital, said she was "very, very surprised" by the nomination.
Ng Chai Lee, a record searcher at a polyclinic, and engineer Andy Goh, were the other nominees.
"They are different from the rest in a sense that they are not just happy for themselves, but they are also able to make that kind of happiness something that would inspire people around them," said Dr Leong Chan Hoong, chief of the psychology programme at SIM University and a judge in the competition.
