LeT militant killed in encounter in Srinagar
Srinagar, Apr 14: Srinagar Police today eliminated a divisional commander of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in an encounter at Theed – Harwan village, located about 22 kms from here.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Srinagar Afadul Muztaba told reporters that LeT militants use Theed as their base to launch activities in Srinagar.
The slain militant, Abu Nasir Zakarya was trying to cross a bridge, which was ambushed by the police in the early hours on Monday. The militant fired on the ambush party, but was killed in the retaliatory fire by the armed forces, the SSP added.
The joint operation by the Special Operations Group (SOG), Srinagar and the Army to cleanse the area is still going on, police sources said. (ANI)
