A statement issued on Monday by WSI Corporation informs that the
temperature has been forecasted to be colder than normal across most of
the U. S. in the three-month period from January through March.

WSI
informed that the temperatures will average below normal in February
and March, but will be above normal in January in the U. S. Northeast,
the world's largest heating oil market.

Baghdad  - Iraqi police on Tuesday arrested the suspected perpetrators of a restaurant bomb attack in Kirkuk that left 45 dead and 85 injured, including many women and children.

The attack earlier this month in a restaurant during the Muslim feast of sacrifice, Eid al-Adha, was the work of a suicide bomber, police said at the time.

Kurdish security forces, with the help of US forces, arrested members of an Islamist extremist group that claimed responsibility for the attack. Police also confiscated 250 kilograms of TNT and bombs.

Beirut  - A cargo ship carrying Lebanese activists and supplies will set sail on January 3 for the besieged Gaza Strip in an attempt to break an Israeli blockade, organizers said Tuesday.

The European-flagged ship will carry power generators and food to Gaza. It will sail from southern Lebanon to the eastern Mediterranean island of Cyprus before heading to Gaza, one of the organizers, Hani Suleiman, a lawyer and professor, said.

The passengers include activists from civil society groups as well as journalists, Suleiman said.

Due to the security threats following last month's Mumbai attacks, authorities in India's south-western resort state of Goa have banned beach parties. On Saturday after the discussions, the state government decided to ban the most popular beach parties during Christmas and New Year's holidays.

M Digamber Kamat, Goa Chief Minister announced, "There will be no beach parties from December 23, 2008 to January 5, 2009 due to security reasons. But hotel and traditional parties will be allowed."
