Melbourne, Nov 26 : The new policy of giving only one warning before firing someone may help Australia avoid a recession, but it will still make people lose their jobs, warns the OECD.
The new workplace regime does away with the old workplace law of getting three warnings before you are fired, and Small Business Minister Craig Emerson stated that just one warning would be enough.
The new law, which also prevents any unfair dismissals and is an important concession to small businesses, is applied to any employee who commits theft, fraud or violence in the workplace.
“You just say you''re finished,” News. com. au quoted Emerson as telling ABC Television.

Petaling Jaya (Indonesia), Nov. 26 : Indonesia will not follow Malaysia’s move to ban Muslims from practicing yoga.
According to The Star, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) said this was because it did not know the extent to which the exercise is practiced in Indonesia.
MUI deputy chairman Umar Shihab said more research had to be done before a decision can be made to prohibit yoga.
“It is okay if it’s for sport but I do not know if it is proven that it can destroy our beliefs as Muslims or contains ideas of polytheism,” Umar was quoted by The Jakarta Post as saying earlier this week.
He said the council did not carry out any study on yoga, as it had not received any objection from the public.

On Tuesday, a Thai ship owner, Wicharn Sirichaiekawat, claimed that Indian Navy's INS Tabar might have sunk off its fishing trawler Somalia's coast, mistaking it for a pirate ship. The owner said that the ship was missing along with 14 sailors.
