The draw felt like a defeat and England's misery was increased by the fact that Flintoff continued to struggle with a hip injury and may miss the rest of the tour.

Haddin sees Hughes making a mark on Proteas tour

Potchefstroom (South Africa), Feb. 20: Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Brad Haddin believes that batting prodigy Phillip Hughes will be a huge success on the current tour of South Africa and beyond.

Haddin knows Hughes better than any other Australian player and predicts immediate success for his 20-year-old NSW teammate because of his ability.

"He''s one of those players who comes along every now and again that no matter what age they are, the situation of the game or the quality of the opposition just doesn''t seem to faze them," Haddin said.

PCB to put World Cup preparations on fast-forward mode

Karachi, Feb. 20: As the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that there would not be any shift in the venue of 2011 Cricket World Cup, Cricket authorities in Pakistan have decided to put their long-delayed preparations for the event on fast-forward mode.

"The preparations will move forward on the fast track soon," The News quoted, PCB's Chief Operating Officer (COO), Saleem Altaf, as saying.

Altaf informed that a senior Karachi-based banker, Salman Sarwar Butt has been appointed as the managing director for the 2011 World Cup.

He said that matches scheduled for Rawalpindi may be moved to Multan or Hyderabad, but the final decision regarding the issue will be taken later.

According to The Australian, the team management is said to be extremely worried about the 27-year-old vice-captain injury.

The batsman and nominal successor to Ricky Ponting has suffered from a lower-back injury for his whole career. Now, he has a separate back injury that has the Australian camp holding its breath and hoping, according to coach Tim Nielsen.
