Flickr introduces improved uploading system
Flickr has introduced an upgraded uploading system for its users allowing them to drag-and-drop field and edit the files that are in transition.
The Yahoo-owned photo sharing site has upgraded its native uploader with an HTML5 interface and has increased maximum file sizes and a speed boost. The users will now be able to preview thumbnails and the HTML5 interface will also allow zooming and rotation of the pictures being uploaded.
It also says that users will be able to larger files with the new tool as the maximum file size has been increased to 50 MB for Flickr Pro users while free users will be able to upload files up to 30 MB. The new Flickr uploader will also let users tag friends, add descriptions and add descriptions before the photos are upload becomes visible.
Flickr is also claiming that users in the US will see 20 to 30 per cent faster upload times while users from foreign locations will see 60% faster speeds through the new uploader. The new uploader supports Chrome, Safari and Firefox and it will support more browsers in the coming week and will be available to more users.
