Dell updates enterprise strategy with Active Infrastructures suite

Dell updates enterprise strategy with Active Infrastructures suite At its invite-only event for media, analysts, and customers on Thursday, Dell announced the most recent updates to its enterprise strategy, which pivot around the company's novel solutions set - called Active Infrastructures - that amalgamates its new converged infrastructures offerings.

With the upgraded Dell enterprise strategy chiefly comprising changes for its overall architecture from services to software to platforms, Active Infrastructures has been designed for simplifying the deployment of virtual desktop infrastructures (VDIs), private clouds and applications.

At the core of the Dell Active Infrastructures suite is the Active System 800, a PowerEdge M1000e chassis packed with 12th-generation blade servers, Dell Compellent or EqualLogic storage, as well as a new plug-and-play blade I/O module.

According to the information shared by Dell, the Active System 800 is capable not only of a 75 percent speedier automation and streamlining of steps, but also bringing about a 45 percent improvement in system performance per watt and 2.3 times more compute nodes per rack.

Noting that the Active Infrastructure family delivers the most intuitive and low-energy-consumption integrated servers, storage, and infrastructure platform with an interface that is fairly easy to use, Dell Enterprise Solutions' president Marius Haas said that the benefits of the suite stem from the fact that it leverages investments in modular components.

The US release of the Active System 800, the associated Active System Architectures, and Active System Manager is scheduled in late November; with the worldwide launch - directly from Dell and its channel partners - scheduled for 2013.
