Meanwhile, some other reports have hinted that, along with rolling out its updated lineup, Amazon may also slash the cost of its already-aggressively-priced original Kindle Fire from $199 to $149.

As per a DigiTimes report, the updated 7-inch Kindle Fire tablet which Amazon will unveil at the mentioned event will boast a screen resolution of 1280x800, and will be priced at $199.

The DigiTimes report further said that it is also likely that the original Kindle Fire may be overhauled, with “similar” specs as the current tablet, which will essentially aim at the entry-level users and will enable the company to expand its market share with its highly-fetching $149 price tag.

Noting that Amazon will also probably unveil 8.9-inch and 10.1-inch Kindle Fire models, along with the upgraded 7-inch version, at the press event, Rice said that the devices to be introduced by Amazon will be “priced very competitively, at lower price points than most, if not all their competitors.”
