Guatemala City - At least 10 people including five US citizens died in the crash of a private plane Sunday in eastern Guatemala, Guatemalan aviation authorities said.

The plane had taken off from Guatemala City and was bound for el Estor when it went down in Cabanas, about 100 kilometres east of the capital.

The pilot and co-pilot were reported among the dead. (dpa)
