Zylog Systems forays ‘ISP business’; launches Wi5 in Chennai
India Limited, a leading global software solution and services provider, has announced the launch of "Wi5" wireless broadband services in Chennai.
With this launch, Zylog enters the ISP business in the country and has obtained a category 'A' internet service provider license to operate in all of India's DoT circles.
The company claims that newly launched WiFi service will enable customers to access high-speed wireless broadband connectivity through their laptops, desktop or mobile devices by subscribing to Wi5 service on the move.
However, user needs a Wi-Fi enabled laptop, personal computer or a mobile device or a separate Wi-Fi card to access the Wi5 services.
Describing Zylog's Wi5 services working a company official stated that it works by creating a Wi5 mesh network, which is done by setting up intelligent Wi-Fi nodes on roof tops in select building across the city, making the area a Wi5 Zone.
In the near future, the company has also plans to launch similar WiFi services in cities such as Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata enabling customers access these services at any of the Wi5 zones across these cities.
According to a report, the overall Indian Wi-Fi market (including WLAN hardware, systems integration and software services, not including embedded devices, laptop) is predicted to grow from the current $41.57 million to exceed $744 million by 2012.
