Zardari showing political maturity, while Nawaz is being adamant, says Shujaat

Islamabad, Mar 13: former Pakistan premier Chaudhry Shujaat HussainPakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) president and former Pakistan premier Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari was exhibiting political maturity whereas the "adamant attitude" of former premier Nawaz Sharif could pose a threat to democracy.

He also said that while the PPP had "undoubtedly" gained the mandate of the people, Nawaz had bagged votes due to "other reasons".

Nawaz was doing politics of rigidity "just to satisfy his ego, which is against democratic norms", the Daily Times quoted Shujaat as saying while speaking to reporters at his residence in Islamabad.

He said the PML-Q would field its candidates for the National Assembly’s Speaker and Deputy Speaker, whereas a decision to nominate its premiership candidate would be taken after seeing the nominee of the winning parties.

The ex-premier said that the new Assembly would complete its term only if it maintains good rapport with President Pervez Musharraf. "The new assembly could only complete its term if it maintains good working relationship with the President," he said. (ANI)
