Yamaha to go rural with the YBR

Yamaha-YBR-25The comeback kid, Yamaha Motors India which has been focusing mainly on the urban areas with offerings like R15, FZ16 is all set to focus on the rural parts of the country with its new offering YBR in the Indian market.

While the company is still giving proper shape to its plans for the Indian scooters market, it believes that higher contribution of sales with come from rural market for a product like the recently unveiled YBR. A 100cc model will be primarily pulling consumers out of the tier-II and tier-III cities but the Japanese two-wheeler maker is also not hoping for decent growth due to the high competition from the likes of Hero Honda, TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto.

Notably, the company will also drive in a 125cc model named SZ in the second half of this year. Pankaj Dubey, National Business head, Yamaha India recently confirmed the fact that the company does have a large presence in the rural areas so far and the latest product will cater to the consumers in the rural areas.

The company already sells products like Crux, Alba and G5 in this segment but it hasn't been able to get any significant numbers in this segment.
