Wolves hold Villa to draw in Birmingham derby
London - Wolverhampton Wanderers held Aston Villa to a 1-1 draw on Saturday in a typically competitive Birmingham derby in the English Premier League.
Villa could have gone third with a heavy win but were pegged back by a late equalizer from the home side.
Gabriel Agbonlahor looked to have pinched the win for Villa when he netted 11 minutes from time. But Steve Sidwell fouled Michael Kightly four minutes later and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake scored from the penalty spot.
Villa remained in sixth place while Wolves rose one place to 15th.
Later on Saturday, Chelsea could go back above Manchester United at the top with a victory over Blackburn Rovers at Stamford Bridge. United visit Liverpool on Sunday. (dpa)
