Wipro Q4 Net Up 21% To Rs 1209 CroreFor three month period ended March 2010, Wipro Ltd recorded a growth of 21% in its net profit, which stood at Rs 1209 crore.

In a regulatory filing, the IT giant said that its total revenue for the fourth quarter (Q4) climbed 8% YoY to Rs 6983 crore.

Under the International Financial Regulatory Standard (IFRS), the company net income during the quarter under review was $269 million and total revenue $1.55 billion.

Wipro declared a bonus issue in 2:3 ratio, or 2 equity shares having face value of Rs 2 each for every 3 held. The proposition is subject to stockholders' authorization.

Besides, a dividend of Rs 6 a share on the face value of Rs 2 each to stockholders has also been declared.

Wipro Chairman Azim Premji said, "We have seen another strong quarter of broad based, volume led growth. We saw good recovery in our challenged verticals of technology and telecom. The business environment is returning to normal."

For the twelve month period ended March 31, 2010, the company recorded an increase of 18.49% in its consolidated net profit, which stood at Rs 4,593 crore.

On the outlook front, Mr. Premji stated that for the three month period ending June 30, 2010, the company anticipates proceeds from IT services business to be in the range of $1,190 million to $1,215 million.

Mr. Suresh Senapaty, Executive Director & Chief Financial Officer of Wipro, stated, "We had a satisfying quarter. We delivered close to the upper end of our guidance with revenues of $1,180 million in constant currency. We have driven up margins by 60 basis points despite headwinds of wage increases, rupee appreciation and the impact of cross currency."

At 10:23 a. m., the company's shares gained 1.2% to trade at Rs 711.60 on BSE.
