Wipro plans to hire 5,000 people in 2 months
Wipro Technologies, the IT firm, is planning to hire 5,000 graduates through fresh recruitment strategy of hiring graduates from non-engineering institutes.
In the last year also, the company offered 8,500 jobs in to students in colleges and institution through recruitment drives. The company hasn’t disclosed its exact plans for the hiring for next year, but has indicated that it will consist of 40% hiring from the experienced and
60% from the fresher.
The Joint Chief Executive Officer of Wipro Technologies, Mr. Girish Paranjpe said, “Our strategy is to recruit non-engineering graduates, in addition to engineering and make them fit into the slot. We are still working out the details. We expect clients to make no further cuts in their budgets. We expect 2010 to be a better year than 2009.”
The company has plans to reduce the carbon emission per employee by 45 per cent from the present 3.96 tonnes to 2.5 tonnes in the next five years.
Moreover, the company’s power has decreased by 12 percent in the last year and they are looking to set up a wind mill to supplement the power requirements, in Hyderabad. The attrition rate for the company was 10 percent at that time.
The company’s total power consumptions from the internal and external sources stand at 75 megawatt.
