Williams prefers to curl with a good movie off the court

Williams prefers to curl with a good movie off the court Melbourne  - Serena Williams Saturday said she plans to spend plenty of time alone in her hotel room, downloading films and TV shows and making her own entertainment in between matches at the Australian Open.

Calling herself "terrible" for Hollywood balance sheets, the three-time champion has become a huge fan of on-demand entertainment.

"I love to watch TV, I've gotten into iTunes," she said. "I'm terrible for the whole music industry and movie industry because I download movies and music and TV shows.

"I'm obsessed with Desperate Housewives, so I'm waiting for Monday so I can download the next episode.

"That's kind of what I do, I just watch TV on my computer. I'm just going to stay in my room."

Williams flamed out in the semi-finals at Sydney on Thursday, her only preparation event for the Grand Slam.

Despite losing the second set 6-1 to eventual champion Elena Dementieva, the American said she "gave away" the match to the 10-0 Russian with two titles in her pocket already this season.

But even that comprehensive loss just cannot dent the Williams confidence.

"I'm actually pretty happy about my preparation. I got some really good matches under me in Sydney and still with plenty of time to rest and get ready for this event."

And the ego appears to be healthy also for the world number two behind Serb Jelena Jankovic.

"I feel like I'm the best player," she insisted. "Even if I'm ranked 100 in the world, I would sit here and say I'm the best player.

"I have nothing against Jankovic. She went out in the fall and worked hard and got the number one ranking. But I feel I'm the best and I'm not going to sit here and say anyone is better than me.

"I shouldn't be in tennis if I felt that way."
