WBIDC Handed Over Land For Jai Balaji ProjectsThe state government of west Bengal has decided to allocate 750 acres of land in Raghunathpur, Purulia to Jai Balaji Group of the city. Jai Balaji Group would use the land for integrated steel, power and cement projects worth Rs 16,000-crore. It would start the first phase of project within a few weeks. The company has also decided to offer jobs to one member of each family whose land has been acquired to set up the projects.

The Industries minister of WB, Nirupam Sen said, "Despite economic problems, Jai Balaji has decided to go ahead with the project. We shall help them fully. WBIDC will hand over another 250 acres in the next 15 days."

The chairman and managing director of Jai Balaji Industries, Aditya Jajodia said that the company would complete the first phase of the project in 36 months. He added, "We shall invest Rs 4,000 crore in the first phase. The steel plant will require an investment of Rs 2,300 crore and the remaining Rs 1,700 crore will bespent on the power and cement plants."

Adhunik Group and Shyam Steel also want to set up their projects in the state and the government has started the process to identify the land for the proposed projects. The industry minister of the state said, "We shall start land acquisition for those projects soon. They have assured us that they will start work as soon as we hand over the land."
