Auto major, Volkswagen has announced that it will launch its new Sports Utility Vehicle, Volkswagen Touareg 2011 in the Indian market by the end of this year.

VolksWagen Touareg is a big size SUV but is 208 kilograms lighter than the earlier model. It has wider sitting bumper and the headlamps give it a soft appealing exterior. Apart from the changes in the looks the new model is faster and fuel efficient.

The company claims that SUV is 20% more fuel efficient than its earlier model. It incorporates remarkable transmission options with an eight-speed automatic transmission along with a six speed tiptronic box.

The SUV has 4Motion all-wheel drive and advanced Stop-start technology along with a host of electronic features which helps handling of the SUV on and off the road.

Volkswagen Touareg 2011 is will available in petrol and diesel engines while the company is also planning to release a hybrid variant. The Vehicle is capable of going at 50km in full electric mode. However, the company is not certain over its plans to launch the Hybrid in India as the sales of such vehicles are nor significant in the country.

The company did not give any information about the pricing or launch date for the vehicle.
