Violent clashes between army, rebels leave seven dead in Colombia
Bogota - In clashes between Colombian military and leftist rebel group National Liberation Army (ELN), five soldiers and one of the insurgents were killed, local media reported Wednesday, citing an army spokesman.
In a separate incident, another soldier was killed when his unit was ambushed by ELN rebels in Colombia's north-east Arauca province on the border with Venezuela, the report continued.
Tuesday, the Colombian Army already detonated a bicycle-bomb planted near an army garrison in Arauca. The attempted attack was attributed to Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) rebels. (dpa)
