Videocon Plans Rs 400 Crore Investment In Kerala
Videocon, which rolled out its GSM mobile services in Kerala, has decided to make an investment of Rs 400 crore in the state with more than 1500 signal towers or BTS during the initial phase.
Mr. Aravind Santhanam, Company's Chief Operating Officer, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, stated that India's leading business conglomerate has already invested around Rs 200 crore to Rs 250 crore in Kerala.
Mr. Aravind also said that the services have been commenced with a network of 1500 BTS at the time of launch, which is likely to hit 2500 by the end of this year.
The launch of Kerala services is part of the Videocon's plan to cover 100 key cities and towns over 100 days.
Videocon has eyed to cover 100% of the urban population and 70% of the rustic population in subsequent months.
"The brand will have a retail presence in over 15,000 outlets in the State from day one and plans to cover 22,500 outlets within 6 months, offering easy access to customers across the State," Mr. Santhanam added.
Videocon, which is the 11th mobile service provider in Kerala, is directing to reach top three by 2013. (With Inputs from Agencies)
