New Delhi, Feb. 9:Vice-President, BJP, Congress leaders condole Amte's death Vice President Hamid Ansari and other leaders today condoled the death of noted social activist Baba Amte.

In his condolence message, Ansari said: “I am deeply grieved to learn about the sad demise of Shri Baba Amte, an eminent public personality. His death is a great loss to the country. Shri Baba Amte served the people, especially the poor and the downtrodden, and earned their love and adulation. In his passing away, we have lost a great Indian.”

In his condolence message, senior BJP leader L. K. Advani said: "Baba Amet will be known for a long time for his devoted and lifelong service for the care and rehabilitation of leprosy patients, tribals and people belonging to the other marginalised sections of our society."

He also praised the contribution of Amte's wife, Sadhanati, who he described as a great social worker and writer in her own right, and their two sons -- Vikas and Prkash -- for their selfless service to mankind.

BJP President Rajnath Singh said:"I am deeply pained to hear of the news of Baba Amte's death. he was a seasoned campaigner of peace and harmony, who dedicated his entire life serving the society and the country."

Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora said that in Baba Amte's passing, the nation had lost a true Gandhian entirely dedicated to the uplift of the downtrodden and the disadvantaged section of society.

“This has been a big personal loss to me as I was a beneficiary of Baba Amte’s guidance and support as and when needed,” Deora said.

“I would ever cherish my association and frequent meetings with Baba Amte to support his crusade for well being of humanity,” he added. (ANI)
