Venus wins the Wimbledon title for third time
Serena Williams has won the Wimbledon title for the third time in the women’s single event after defeating her sister Venus William in the final in London on Saturday.
Serena has defeated the defending champion Venus in straight sets by 7-6 (7/3), 6-2.
With this defeat, the Venus lost the hope of winning the Grand Slam for third consecutive time and to level the record of Billie Jean King of winning six Grand Slam titles.
The first set was very close as the set went to tie-breaker but Serena managed to win the set and took lead by 1-0.
In the second set, Serena outplayed Venus to win the set and match to lift the Wimbledon title.
Serena and Venus have met each other in eight finals of major titles and Serena has registered win in six of them.
