Venus Eases Into Last Eight
After defeating Ana Ivanovic in her third round match in London on Monday, the defending champion Venus William has advanced into the last eight of the women’s single event of the Wimbledon championship.
Venus, seeded third in the tournament, was declared the winner of the match as Ivanovic retired from the match because of thigh problem.
Venus was leading the match by 6-1 1-0 when Ivanovic announced to retire after a treatment, which continued for long time.
Ivanovic was struggling throughout the match as she was outplayed by Venus in the first set and she was lagging behind in the second set by 0-1 before she decided to retire.
Venus will now play against Agnieszka Radwanska who has defeated Melanie Oudin 6-4 7-5 in the third round to qualify in to the quarterfinals of the women’s single event of the wimbledon chamipionship.
