US computer chip maker AMD to strengthen ties to small business

AMD president and chief operating officer Dirk MeyerSunnyvale, California  -  US computer chip manufacturer AMD on Monday announced a platform of cooperation to target small and medium-sized businesses.

Called "Business Class," the AMD initiative aims to help computer manufacturers to produce systems tailored for small business.

AMD president and chief operating officer Dirk Meyer said that with the new system, "IT decision-makers have a broad range of commercial client solutions to choose from and it is not always clear which systems deliver the best business value."

"Our solutions are designed to give commercial customers the assurance that platforms are designed with their business in mind to help get more from their computing infrastructure, longer," Meyer said.

The company also announced a new line of Athlon and Phenom processors. (dpa)
