Unitech to discuss appointment of an advisor for the demergerIndia's second largest realty player, Unitech has recently shown his intentions of inducting an advisor to facilitate the restructuring process of the company.

Under the process, the company is aiming to merge various subsidiaries and also demerge various units to unlock the value for the shareholders. The company has clarified it in the recent filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange that it is considering appointing advisors for exploring opportunities and making an advice to the board and the company for potential merger of subsidiaries.

The company further mentioned in the filing that the advisor would also be helpful in the demerger activities and the other forms of restructuring, or acquisitions, or spin-offs with a final objective of enhancing and unlocking shareholder value in the long-run. Notably, experts believe that the company is aiming to demerge its non-core businesses like Hotels and Telecom.

Moreover, the new infrastructure arm is expected have the telecom, hotel, SEZ and construction businesses. Notably, the efforts are going in to list another company on the bourses and the shareholder's shares will hence be listed on that too. Though, the company hasn't still decided on the swap ratio.
