Two Republican state lawmakers put forward bills related to sale of fetal tissues

Reports say that two Republican state lawmakers are looking forward to ban fetal tissues sale and come up with rules for its disposal. This proposal has been put forward after release of a hidden camera video that was shot by a California group.

The video is showing a discussion between a Planned Parenthood medical director and people who are, talking regarding the matter with the director. It appears in the video that they’re having discussion to purchase fetal specimens.

The video led to many reactions from abortion opponents, like Matt Sande, director of legislation for Pro-Life Wisconsin. According to Sande, a lot of emotions are involved here and people are surprised and upset seeing what the video shows. Sande added that at present, it is required to do something about it and accomplish something in this direction.

State Reps. Joel Kleefisch and Andre Jacque are putting forward two bills. One bill would ban such sale and another one will necessitate burying or cremation of aborted fetuses. And the bills are being taken positively by many people.

According to Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, the bills are related to an ongoing attack on legal abortion. Nicole Safar, who is government relations director for the organization’s advocacy arm, said that this proposal to ban the aborted fetuses’ sale would have no influence on practices.

According to Safar, “Federal law explicitly prohibits the sale of tissue, and Planned Parenthood, like all other accredited, high-quality health care providers in Wisconsin, does not sell tissue”.
