Two-day CBI remand for Dr. Talwar
Ghaziabad, June 3 : A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ghaziabad extended the remand of dentist Rajesh Talwar for two days, which the CBI required to probe the murder case of his daughter Aarushi.
As one day was insufficient, the judge gave the bureau two days.
The CBI took Talwar to his residence in NOIDA’s Jalvayu Vihar area this morning and conducted an extensive search.
"We visited the crime scene (Talwars' apartment) for further investigation," a CBI official said.
“Yesterday (Monday) Talwar was brought to the CBI headquarters in New Delhi where he was interrogated briefly. Though we have not booked him for the murder, we need to interrogate him more to corroborate his wife's statements about the sequence of events,” the official added.
The CBI had on Monday taken Talwar into its custody for a day.
The investigating agency had found loopholes in the probe carried out by the Uttar Pradesh Police, including not picking blood samples or the fingerprints properly from the scene of the crime.
Senior CBI officials said if the probe had been carried out properly by the UP Police, the case would have been solved in less than 24 hours.
Fourteen-year-old Aarushi was found dead with her throat slit on May 16 in her house The body of servant Hemraj was found on the terrace a day later.
NOIDA Police arrested Talwar eight days later.
The Central Government had transferred the case to the CBI in the wake of a public outcry over the case not being handled properly. (ANI)
