Triumph enters India’s premium motorcycles market
In a bid to take advantage of India's burgeoning premium motorcycles market, British motorcycle maker Triumph recently launched 10 premium models, with price tags ranging from Rs 5.7 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
Triumph Motorcycles Ltd's newly launched line-up covers a range of categories like Classics, Cruisers, Roadsters and Supersports. More precisely, the company's line-up includes Bonneville, Bonneville T100, Speed Triple, Daytona 675R supersports, Tiger 800XC, Tiger Explorer, Thruxton cafe racer, Thunderbird Storm and the 2,300cc Rocket III Roadster.
While entry level Classic Bonneville is available for Rs 5.7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the top-of-the-line cruiser Rocket III Roadster costs Rs 20 lakh.
Paul Stroud, director of sales & marketing (global) at Triumph, said the company entered the Indian market, which is an exceptionally exciting market for it, at the right time.
Speaking on the launch of the line-up, Stroud said, "India is an exceptionally exciting market for us and the premium motorcycle segment in the country is seeing tremendous growth. We are not late. This is the right time to establish our foothold here."
The line-up of Triumph motorcycles was first unveiled at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, with a plan to release the motorcycles in October. But, the exit of the company's India head, Ashish Joshi, in May derailed that plan.
