Toyota’s Prius launched at 2010 Auto ExpoAuto maker Toyota launched Prius hybrid car at the 2010 Auto Expo in Delhi. Toyota and partner Kirloskar Motor today showcased the eco-friendly car which is to come in the price band of Rs 26.55 lakh and Rs 27.86 lakh.

This is a third generation Prius powered by 1.8 lit petrol engine and a battery of 60KW. The hybrid car has three modes power, Eco mode and Electric vehicle mode.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Deputy Managing Director Sandeep Singh said at the Auto Expo, "Through the launch of Prius, Toyota is keen to demonstrate its commitment to offer the latest eco-friendly automotive technology to its customers in India."

In 1997, Prius became the world's first mass produced hybrid. Mr. Singh also outlined the success of the model internationally and said 1.5 million have been sold making it the most successful hybrid in the market.

Toyota Kirloskar Motors will put about 200 of the model on sale during March-December which will be imported into the country through CBU route from Japan.

Continuing its eco-friendly drive, Toyota also showcased Altis CNG and Innova CNG and Camry at the expo. "We will continue to popularise environmentally friendly vehicles in India to further our efforts to help save the environment," Singh added.
