Toyota all set to launch its small car for US$ 5,000 by 2010
It was recently made official that the Indian arm of Japanese auto major Toyota Motor Corporation would be launching a global small car by 2010-11. The car would also be exported to overseas markets in both developed and developing countries, other than being launched in the domestic market.
This strategy adopted by Toyota is quite similar to other auto majors. The main motive of all these companies is widening their market share tremendously through the launches of their own small cars.
The JV Company of Toyota and Kirloskar Motors, TKM had also reported earlier, “The Company is looking to grab 15 percent of the passenger vehicles market in India by 2015 from 4 percent currently.” It has assigned almost Rs.1,400 crore for its new unit in Bangalore, for which the foundation stone was laid on 31st July'08.
Quite a few years back, Toyota had announced that by 2008, it would release the Daihatsu small car. However, there has been no news for its launch for much time now. Quite less and unspecific details of the car have been available till now. However, it has been learnt that the car would cost around US$ 5,000 and may be launched by 2010.
