An avid supporter of Sir Tim Hunt will leave no stone unturned to prove the fallibility of the University College London's (UCL) move that caused disgrace to Hunt. Jonathan Dimbleby, a renowned writer and broadcaster has resigned from UCL in a bid to highlight the folly of sacking the honorable 72-year-old Nobel Prize winner.

Jonathan Dimbleby has resigned his honorary fellowship at UCL because of its 'disgraceful' treatment meted out to Sir Tim Hunt, asserting that Hunt's comments on women scientists and journalists were made in a little humor and were in no way meant to degrade the stance of women in science.

Dimbleby has criticized UCL for adopting a rash and unjust approach to tackle Hunt's situation, emphatically asserting, "This is not an offense that should be enough to ensure that a distinguished scientist should be told to resign his position".

Jonathan Dimbleby stressed that the controversial part of Sir Tim's speech was followed by a paragraph in which Hunt made fun of himself and called for more women in science. The paragraph started with the utterance 'Seriously, though.', thus making it quite evident that the preceding words were meant to be a joke.

Sir Tim Hunt was asked to resign after he said during a South Korea conference that the problem with girls in laboratories was that they either fell in love or cried when criticized.

Nonetheless, what future holds for Sir Tim is curiously awaited, with prominent figures of integrity like Dimbleby and Richard Dawkins ardently backing his cause, calling the college's reaction as totally inappropriate and a breach of freedom of speech while other like Professor Michael Arthur, UCL chairman vehemently assert the validity of University's decision.
