Three killed, 14 wounded in Iraqi violence
Baghdad - Three were killed and another 14 wounded in separate incidents Sunday around Iraq, media reports and police sources said.
Iraqi police sources told the Voices of Iraq (VOI) news agency that two Iraqis were killed and another five people were wounded in a car bomb attack near the Iranian embassy in Baghdad.
Sources said the explosion occurred in the capital's Salehiya area in the early hours of Sunday.
The injured were taken to nearby hospitals while security forces spread out around the scene of the attack.
In another incident, police sources told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa that an Iraqi was killed and another eight people were wounded, including six policemen, when a bomb went off targeting an Iraqi patrol in the northern city of Kirkuk.
In Tikrit, some 180 kilometres north of Baghdad, militants opened fire on an Iraqi patrol, wounding a police officer in the Sahel al- Aysar area, police sources said.
Police and security forces responded by closing the city's gates and launching an operation in which some 70 people were detained for questioning. (dpa)
