Three Chinese dams on Brahmaputra not to affect IndiaThe Indian authorities have expressed concerns over the three dams that are being built on the Brahmaputra River in China but maintained that the projects will not impact India's use of the river water as most of the water used by the country comes from north eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh.

Water Resources Minister Harish Rawat that the Indian governments taking up the issue with the government the people's republic of China at the highest level. He also pointed out that the issue was discussed when Indian Prime Minister met Chinese president recently. He assured that the the three dams being constructed in China will not impact India's use of the river as water to the Brahmaputra comes from Arunachal Pradesh and other areas.

Prime Minister Singh and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a discussion on the issue when they met on the side-lines of the BRICS summit in Durban. Chinese authorities have maintained that the projects are run of the river projects and will not impact the flow. Chinese government has also assured India that it will not take any steps that will impact the downstream flow of water in Brahmaputra River.
