Tehran - Tehran on Saturday reacted with surprise over Morocco's decision to cut ties with Iran, ISNA news agency reported.

"This is indeed an odd and questionable move. But it is Morocco's decision, and we will in due time reply to that within a statement," Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki told a news briefing.

Morocco announced on Friday that it is cutting diplomatic ties with Iran following a dispute over the sovereignty of the Gulf state of Bahrain.

The move appears to be the culmination of a diplomatic row between Morocco and Iran over Tehran's alleged questioning of Bahrain's independence. (dpa)
