Apple roiled by false report of Steve Jobs heart attack

San Francisco - The US Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating the motive behind a false report on CNN's citizen journalist website Friday that Apple's chief executive Steve Jobs had suffered a heart attack.

The report sent the company's stock on a roller coaster ride. Shares fell 5.4 per cent Friday morning after the posting on iReport.com cited an anonymous source who said Jobs was rushed to the hospital after suffering a "major heart attack."

The report followed months of concern about the health of the iconic company founder and CEO who had surgery four years ago to treat pancreatic cancer.

Apple settles stock option lawsuit for 14 million dollarsSan Francisco  - Apple has agreed to a 14-million-dollar settlement of a shareholder lawsuit that alleged chief executive Steve Jobs and other executives had harmed the company by backdating employee stock options, court papers showed Tuesday.

The settlement won preliminary approval Monday by Judge Jeremy Fogel of the US District Court in San Jose, California. It requires Apple to also pay 8.9 million dollars in lawyers' fees, create new rules for giving employees stock options and appoint a committee to oversee stock trading by employees.

Tuesday Will See The Launch Of New iPods By Apple

Apple is all set to launch its new versions of its iPod MP3 music players on Tuesday at a rocking event titled “Lets Rock” at San Francisco. On the other hand, Microsoft, its rival is focusing on its Zune devices to survive in the competition.

All the fans of Apple products, received an email of invitation last week, which read “Lets Rock”, and a colorful outline of a person who is excitingly listening to an iPod.

The other information included in the invitation email, was the time of the press conference and the way to the theatre where it will be held.

Analyst Rob Enderle of Enderle Group in Silicon Valley, informed, “The best bet is they are going to refresh the iPod Touch and the iPod Nano.”
