ATS Chief Killed, Mumbai Under SiegeHemant Karkare, Maharashta Police’s Anti-Terrorism Squad chief, who was probing the Malegaon blast case was among 11officials killed on Wednesday night in encounters with terrorists who struck late at night in India's financial nucleus.

Karkare, 54, was leading an operation at hotel Taj against terrorists who had taken 15 people, including seven foreigners, as hostages when he was shot by terrorists.

SMEs May Get Help From Banks

Banks have agreed to extend financial help to small and medium enterprises (SME) and exporters in the wake of tight liquidity conditions, following the international credit crunch. The Indian Bank’s Association (IBA) discussed the problems of SMEs and hinted to increase the credit limit and ease loan repayment norms without any penalty. 

The SMEs and export organizations demanded increase in lending limit from Rs 75 crore against stocks of Rs 100 crore to Rs 85 crore against the inventory. The members of SMEs said that the customers are not repaying them as per stipulated conditions and hence the repayments are getting delayed.

Mr. Deora had announced price reduction in line with falling international prices of crude oil, after completion of the ongoing election process and opposition parties, especially, BJP, objected to the comments of the Union Minister. It filed a complaint against him before the election commission. Now, the EC has asked the union minister to file his reply by November 27 on his comments regarding price cut.

DLF Assets to Bring In $450m from PE investors DLF Assets (DAL), promoted by K P Singh will raise USD 450 million from private equity investors by December for part payment to another promoter group firm DLF Ltd.

DLF Assets Ltd has been established to acquire commercial projects of DLF, the country's largest realty firm.

DAL owes Rs 4,804 crore to DLF as on September 30 and was targeting capital raising to the tune of USD 400–500 million. The DAL PE deal, in which JP Morgan and Texas Pacific will together put in USD 200 million, is likely to be signed in the next few days.
