Indian markets surged during the opening hours due to overnight gains in the US and a strong opening of the Asian equity markets.

Realty and banking stocks were leading the upmove after gaining more than 3% each.

The BSE midcap index was ruling 1.78 per cent higher, while the BSE smallcap index was up 1.04 per cent.

The Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex opened at 8,480.74, up 136.99 points or 1.64 per cent from the previous day's close.

Before making any modifications in price or composition of the consumer’s subscription package, the providers of Direct-to-home (DTH) service have to give prior notice of fifteen days to their subscribers.

The decision is a part of amended Quality of Services (QoS) standards and redressal of complaints regulations for DTH, which TRAI, telecom and broadcast regulator, announced on Thursday.
 
The amended rules also prohibited DTH operators from charging any fee towards visiting charges or repair and maintenance of equipment that has been bought by a consumer, during the period of warranty.

Reliance Communications, on Thursday, has made announcement about the launching of a new wireless Internet service, called Reliance Netconnect Broadband Plus, which is based on the CDMA technology.

The telecom major claims it to be the fastest internet service in the country till date.

With a downlink speed of up to 3.1 mega bytes per second (Mbps) and a separate uplink speed of up to 1.8 Mbps, the newly launched service offers 30% higher downlink rate as compared to any other wireless broad band offering.

US-based $2.8 billion Perot Systems would open a new facility in Chennai and one in Coimbatore in a bid to expand its business in the country. The new facility is aimed to bring the company's worldwide BPO (business process outsourcing) operations in a single floor to deliver efficient results. The company has already invested about $2 million for these facilities to make them operational by the end of March.
