Rcom Rolls Out New Fastest Wireless Internet ServiceReliance Communications, on Thursday, has made announcement about the launching of a new wireless Internet service, called Reliance Netconnect Broadband Plus, which is based on the CDMA technology.

The telecom major claims it to be the fastest internet service in the country till date.

With a downlink speed of up to 3.1 mega bytes per second (Mbps) and a separate uplink speed of up to 1.8 Mbps, the newly launched service offers 30% higher downlink rate as compared to any other wireless broad band offering.

The service, which is suitable for video streaming, video surveillance, rich media content and better internet browsing, will help boost the broadband penetration in India.

While talking to media persons, Mr. Mahesh Prasad, President, Reliance Communications stated that around 35 cities in the country will take advantage of this service that covers up 80 to 85 per cent potential of broadband users.

Some of the cities to get the service include Guntur, Hyderabad, Kakinada, Bangalore, Mysore, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Mumbai and Delhi.

Mr. Prasad said that the average revenue per user (ARPU) would be in the range of Rs 600-850 for the services.

To avail the service, the subscribers will have to purchase a new device that costs Rs 3500, and choose a monthly tariff plan that varies from Rs 299 going upto Rs 1750, he added.

The service will be available from the next week.

Mr. Prasad said that the subscriber base of RCom’s subsisting service ‘Netconnect’ stood at 10 lakh, and they could consider upgrade their subscription to the new service.

Customers selecting unlimited plan will have cap of 50 GB of data usage. Capping usage in an unlimited plan is a global practice, Mr Prasad said.
