Prime Minister to hold first post-surgery official meet on WednesdayNew Delhi, March 3 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will attend to his first engagement on Wednesday, as he would hold official talks with the President of Benin, Boni Yayi, in the capital on Wednesday since recuperating from bypass surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) which kept him away from office for five weeks.

Though the official talks are scheduled to take place at the Prime Minister''s residence in place of the Hyderabad House, meant for such kind of meetings.

Indian court orders stop to auction of Gandhi artefacts in New York New Delhi - An Indian court passed an interim stay Tuesday to try to stop Mahatama Gandhi's personal belongings from going under the hammer at a New York auction, news reports said.

Gandhi's iconic metal-rimmed glasses, which he once said gave him "the vision to free India," his sandals and pocket watch are among the items due to be auctioned by the Antiquorum Auctioneers Thursday.

FBI chief Robert Mueller meets Indian officials

fbi.jpgNew Delhi (dpa) - Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director Robert Mueller arrived in the Indian capital Tuesday to hold talks with Indian officials on security and terrorism-related issues, news reports said.

The head of the United States' federal criminal investigative body and domestic intelligence agency met federal Home Minister P Chidambaram, the IANS news agency reported.

Mueller was also expected to meet National Security Adviser MK Narayanan and Intelligence Bureau chief Rajiv Mathur before leaving for Pakistan Wednesday.

Central Information Commission calls for Batla House encounter documents

indian-flagNew Delhi, Mar 3 : The Central Information Commission (CIC) has asked the Delhi Police to submit all documents related to the September 19 Batla House encounter before it by March 5 for inspection by the bench.

A bench including Chief Election Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah and Information Commissioner Shailesh Gandhi said that it would decide if the information on the encounter could be shared with RTI applicant and lawyer Prashant Bhushan after assessing these documents.
