Karachi, Apr. 15 : Sindh High Court has issued notices to former Pakistan President General (r) Pervez Musharraf and former Attorney General Malik Qayyum for alleged "abrogation and subversion of the Constitution."

Acting upon the petition filed by Moulvi Iqbal Haider, the SHC ordered Musharraf and Qayyum to respond by May 19, The Nation reports.

Islamabad, Mar 26: Pakistan’s Attorney General Malik Muhammad Qayyum said President Pervez Musharraf has no intention of filing a reference with the Supreme Court against the restoration of judges sacked on November 3, 2007.

Qayyum said Musharraf would neither resign nor file any reference against the judges’ restoration.

Qayyum said that he too had not yet decided on quitting his office, rejecting media reports that he would be resigning within 36 hours.

"I will quit only on the call of my conscience," he said.

Islamabad, Mar 18 : Pakistan Attorney General Malik Muhammad Qayyum on Tuesday said that the Supreme Court (SC) couldn't bar parliament proceedings, as this matter does not come under its jurisdiction.

Talking about issues pertaining to the reinstatement of the deposed judges, Qayyum said: "One may desire for the reinstatement of the deposed judges through passage of a resolution in the parliament but in fact it can not happen."

Islamabad, Mar 11: Pakistan Attorney General Malik Muhammad Qayyum has said that a resolution passed by the Parliament with a simple majority was not enough to restore the deposed judges. He said an amendment to the Constitution by a two-thirds majority was required to restore the deposed judges of the superior courts.

A resolution passed by the parliament only shows its desire and it is not a permanent law, he said while talking to reporters here last evening.
