Bathinda, Mar 22 : The magnificent Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, the fifth Takht or seat of temporal authority of Sikhism is situated at Bathinda in Punjab. The place holds vital importance as the tenth Guru of Sikhs Guru Gobind Singh prepared the revised and authentic version of the Sikh scriptures called Sri Guru Granth Sahib here in 1705.
Located at village Talwandi Sabo, 17 miles southwest of Bathinda City, Guru Gobind Singh arrived here at the invitation of Chaudhari Dalla, a landowner.
The place is now called Damdama Sahib, which means `the resting place'.
Bathinda, Dec. 27 : Punjab is also known as the land of Sufi saints and Gurus who always spread the message of communal harmony. A visit to the mausoleum devoted to Muslim Saint Haji Rattan in Bathinda Fort confirms the message.
People of different castes, creed and religion visit Saint Haji Rattan's Dargah from far off places. Also located adjacent to the mausoleum is a gurudwara devoted to the same saint.

Bhatinda/Malwa (Punjab), June 13 : Anticipating a higher minimum support price for paddy, farmers in Bhatinda in Punjab are likely to switch over to paddy cultivation in place of cotton this summer season.
The farmers said that they are expecting a rise in the minimum support price of paddy, a decision that Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar is likely to take before the sowing season begins.
A similar announcement for wheat in winter led to its all time high production in the country.
Apart from the minimum support price, the farmers feel that paddy, as compared to cotton, requires less maintenance.
Bhatinda (Punjab), Feb 15: Cold wave conditions in Punjab have damaged most of the potato crop causing huge losses to farmers.
Potato producers of Bhatinda say that they have lost at least 70 per cent of their crop yield to severe cold and frost formation.
"With temperatures going down to minus two to three degrees in Punjab this year and due to the fog especially in our district, we are facing huge losses. The crops that we sowed in November are destroyed upto nearly 70 per cent," said Harcharan Singh, a farmer.
