Tatas, Oberois, Reliance and Infosys seek CISF cover
The demand to deploy the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at various business establishments has increased following the recent terror attacks on the financial capital of the country.
Recently, Tatas and Oberois have approached the Union Home Ministry to get the CISF cover for additional security of their prestigious business establishments.
It is recalled that hotels of both business houses were recently attacked by the terrorists, leading to a large scale bloodshed and property loss.
Infosys and the Jamnagar refinery of Reliance had already requested the Home ministry to provide the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) cover following the security threats.
Home Minister, P. Chidambaram said that the government is committed to provide security to all leading business establishments of the country. Parliament had recently passed the Criminal Procedure Code Amendment Bill and the Central Industrial Security Force (Amendment) Bill to strengthen the hand of the security forces.
Mr. Chidambaram added, "The CISF (Amendment) Bill is part of the package of legal measures that are required to enhance security. The amendment Bill is intended to enable the extension of the CISF cover to industrial establishments in the joint sector and private sector.
