Tata motors record 14.8% fall in total sales in AprilIndia's largest automobile firm, Tata motors has recorded a disappointing 14.8 per cent fall in the number of vehicles sold during the month of April, 2013 compared to the same month of the previous year.

Overall, Tata motors sold 51,160 units in the month of April 2013 including exports to other countries compared to 72,715 units sold by the company in April, 2012. The company was able to sell just 8918 units in the month of April 2013, which is less than half of the 18,610 units sold in the same month of 2012.

In the domestic market, the company sold 47,595 units in the commercial and passenger vehicle segment. The total sales of commercial vehicles in April 2013 were recorded at 36,025 units in the Indian market during the month of April, 2013. Passenger vehicles sales was recorded at 11,570 units during the month and Nano/ Indica/ Indigo range sold 8,918 units in the country in the month. In the Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ venture range, the company sold just 2,652 units compared to 4,048 units sold by the company in the month of April, 12.

Tata motors said in a release that it sold 3,565 vehicles in the international markets during the month of April, 2013.
