Tata all set to release Nano by March

Tata all set to release Nano by MarchNano, the cheapest car in the world, is all set to hit Indian roads by the end of March, turning Ratan Tata's dreams to produce 'the people's car' into reality.

The company will organise a function on 23 March in Mumbai to launch Nano in the presence of renowned personalities from business, political and social sector.

The company said in a statement, "The car will be on display at Tata Motors dealerships from the first week of April. Bookings will commence from the second week of April."

The company would start taking orders for car in mid-April and expects overwhelming response from customers. The car was supposed to be launched earlier but controversial land acquisition issue led to delay in its launch following shifting of Tata's mother plant from Singur in West Bengal to Sanand in Gujarat.

The company is gearing up for widest possible network in the country for booking of its dream car. Initially it would manufacture 250,000 Nanos in a year from Gujrat plant and increase its production to 500,000 in the following year.

Meanwhile, shares of company increased 2.61 per cent at Rs 143.50 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
