Swiss diplomats visit US prisoners in Iran jail

Swiss diplomats visit US prisoners in Iran jail Geneva - Swiss diplomats have been allowed to visit three United States citizens being held in Iranian jail, officials in Bern confirmed Wednesday.

The three have been in jail since July, when they were accused of entering Iran illegally.

The US has welcomed the visit from the Swiss, who represent Washington in Tehran since the aftermath of Islamic revolution and the subsequent cutting of ties between the two capitals.

Officials would not comment on whether the gesture had a connection to the six party talks with Iran set for Thursday in Geneva. (dpa)
