Surya Roshni to invest Rs 100 crore to setup new plant
New-Delhi-based Surya Roshni Ltd, a major lighting solution provider, is planning to invest Rs 100 crore in setting up a lamp manufacturing plant at Malanpur, Gwalior with an aim to attain Rs 1,500-crore turnover in the next three years.
The new plant, which will manufacture mainly CFL lamps, high masts and street lights, is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2009.
The firm plans to make 3 million lamps per month. The company already has two manufacturing plants - one each at Kashipur (Nainital) and Malanpur (Gwalior).
A top company official stated that the firm will go aggressively in the coming years to achieve Rs 1,500 crore turnover from sale of lighting and lighting components in the next three years from its present turnover of Rs 500 crore.
Further, the company quoted in a statement that it has engaged top vendors to outsource its products luminaries, street light etc. to soften the pressure on its manufacturing plants.
Apart from these, the company is also planning to invest Rs 400 crore to set up a Greenfield steel pipe manufacturing plant in Bhuj, Gujarat through its subsidiary Surya Global Steel Tubes.
The investment will be funded through internal accruals and debt in the ratio of 2:1.
According to sources, the plant, with an initial capacity of two lakh tonne, will be started by December next year. The company already has a steel pipe and tubes manufacturing unit at Bahadurgarh in Haryana with an annual capacity of three lakh tonnes.
The company plans to generate 2000 jobs in 2009.
