In a very significant decision, The Supreme Court has not granted bail to Ramalinga Raju the main accused in a major corporate scam involving Satyam Computers Services Ltd founder.

Ramalinga Raju, the founder of the software major Satyam, was arrested on the charges of plotting a corporate scam in his company involving crores of money which he said to have siphoned.

S. Andhiarjuna, the senior counsel of Raju, pleaded the court to grant a bail to his client on medical grounds. But the court didn't accept the bail sighting that Raju was already getting the proper medical care.

The bench that gave the decision on Raju's bail included Mr K G Balakrishnan, the Chief Justice of India and other two Justices Mr. Deepak Verma and Mr. B S Chauhan.

The bench said that in case of crimes as serious as this one, the accused should not be given bail as it's important for them stay behind the bars so that they can't influence the judiciary process.

The court said that if given a bail Raju may influence or threaten the witnesses in the case which will make the judicial process falter. On the request made by Raju's counsel, Supreme Court has withdrawn Raju's bail and not rejected it. This gives them an opportunity to apply for a bail at later stage.
